Captured at Ocean Grove Main Beach at sunrise, this photograph is a little celebration of the people who choose to start their day in the water.
In the foreground, our Merfolk crew move through the waves while surfers make their way across the breaks in the distance. Different people, different rhythms, all sharing the same stretch of ocean before the rest of the day begins.
I love the layers in this image — the swimmers, the breaking waves, the surfers beyond and the warm glow of the rising sun. There's so much movement and energy, but somehow it feels peaceful too.
There's something special about these early mornings by the sea. You see the same familiar faces, exchange a wave, have a laugh, get knocked around by a few waves and come out feeling completely reset.
This is for the morning people. The swimmers, surfers, coffee drinkers and ocean lovers who know that a little time in the water can change the whole shape of a day.
